The initiative includes the use of Sharkproof Living: A 7 Step Journey to Financial Independence on your own terms, whose author, Nabil Bedewi, is a Club member and 20-year Rotarian. Through book distribution and financial literacy activities, the campaign introduces young people to practical concepts that can help them make informed financial decisions throughout their lives. Rockville Rotary also hopes the initiative can serve as a model for other Rotary clubs and organizations interested in incorporating financial literacy into their youth programs, expanding its impact beyond a single community.
The campaign aligns closely with the Sharkproof Living Financial Literacy Campaign (FLC) by helping young people build knowledge, confidence, and practical decision-making skills while exploring pathways toward financial independence.
